How to care for your skin while wearing a face mask

Now that face masks have become mandatory we have started seeing a rise in clients presenting with mask related skin issues. So I wanted to write this blog to offer some simple tips on how to manage your skin during this difficult time.

Mask related skin issues

Face Masks can cause a mixture of uncomfortable issues for your skin.

Some common problems we have seen :

1) Blocked pores

2) Skin irritations

3) Redness

4) Acne.

Why does masks cause skin irritations and acne?

Wearing a mask can lead to a lack of oxygen and build up of moisture. The mask blocks fresh air, which keeps the skin dry and balanced, then moisture can build up,creating the perfect environment for bacteria to grow and spread. Masks also trap heat, which can cause inflammation. Its also possible your skin can be sensitive to the masks material.

How to care for your skin while wearing a face mask

Before you put your mask on, make sure your skin is clean and protected. If there is a build up of oils, dead skin, debris on your skin, this will intensify the chance of your mask irritating your skin or causing skin problems.

As you are wearing your mask avoid touching your mask and skin.

Once you are done with your mask for the day , cleanse your skin right away and apply the correct skin care for your concerns.

If your skin is:
